OPEN YOUR BIBLE
By Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams
What a clear title this study holds, it drew in the women who gather with me in a small coffee shop with unique and quirky clocks on the wall. We had come together purely for a longing of community and diving deeper into the word.
I read through the specially crafted words for this study and it called out the desires my group had expressed. To understand His Word and to be guided through in a clear and gentle way, embracing community along the way.
It has become the compass for us, a multi-generational group, all of us at different stages of life. It is what I have come to love about this study, it brought us together and catered for any point in the faith journey, and any point in life. It carries no preconceptions of knowledge, and yet lets the older Christian grow in her faith too. The other element that works so well for us has been being able to be in a coffee shop. I had picked our location before the study, aiming for a neutral environment for new or searching Christians - and without having to rush around to clean my house each Thursday! Most studies come with a 20-40 minute video segment and it was refreshing to find one that had 6-10minute clips that the ladies could watch with homework. Allowing more time for discussion and application, how fruitful this has made our conversation.
This study is a perfect fit for any faith journey, and brings out fantastic conversation however is not for the faint of heart when it comes to sitting in the occasional awkward silence - great if they are hard to stop talking!

PLAY WITH FIRE
By Bianca Juarez Olthoff
Bianca's passion for Jesus oozes out of the screen as she preaches and teaches through scriptures that will impact and transform each life who is in the room. Her humour and love for Jesus speak hope and freedom. She is culturally relevant in her examples and easy to follow as she takes deep scriptures and translates them through stories and personal testimony to make sense of it all!
It is suitable for a group of any age! If you are looking for a fierce study that will breath fire into women young or old - choose this one! The DVD is high quality and the work book is easy to follow and contains moderate homework.
Note: I would highly recommend this study for young adults as well as women in recovery, Bianca has a unique way of communicating that draws in her audience and literally captivates their hearts to crave more of Jesus.

I have used this curriculum for women in different ages and stages of life and it is relatable across the generations. I have witnessed women become transformed because of the power of God speaking to their lives via this study.
Jennie Allen challenges women to ask themselves difficult questions that produce healing, self-reflection, vulnerably and authenticity. The resources is made up of a Leader's guide, DVD and conversation cards. It is up to the leader's discretion on how much or how little each element is used. The structure I used was watching the video clip, discuss key conversation questions aloud and, journal personal answers to selected questions.
Note: I highly recommend this series for Mom's groups. The material uses metaphors that mothers can identify with.
